Dan and Tammy Ullsperger purchased what is now Buckshot’s Saloon & Eatery in 2015. They had no idea how much it was going to change their lives. They completely transformed the previous location and started over, transforming it into a modern, spacious and handicap-accessible food haven in Eagle River, Wisconsin.
Shortly thereafter was the addition of the Leinie Lodge. With Dick Leinenkugel’s permission to use the name, a 700-square-foot four-season addition was built along the north side of the building and opened in the summer of 2018. The reviews were in, Buckshot’s became a hit with locals and visitors alike!

The Buckshot’s Saloon & Eatery is managed by the Ullsperger’s son, Daniel, truly making this a family passion project. And it’s a good thing too, since the restaurant’s success spurred the Ullspergers to purchase a second location, the former BBT’s Restaurant in downtown Eagle River in April of 2019.
“We couldn’t ask for a better location than the middle of downtown Eagle River,” said Dan Ullsperger, owner.
The Ullsperger’s once again took it upon themselves to completely reimagine this new location in order to create the best possible experience for their customers. They painstakingly remodeled the kitchen and bar, outfitting them with the latest equipment, but keeping the unique aesthetic in place. The original “retro” decor with vintage vinyl record jackets from the 1950s to the ’70s lines the walls and a black and white checkered floor reminiscent of a 1950s soda joint, puts the finishing touches on this one-of-a-kind deli.
Now known as Buckshot’s Downtown, they have a full bar, sports TV’s and are family friendly.
